Kick-start Speaking
Speaking English is fun, especially at the grass roots. But how can we start the speaking process with the inexperienced or shy at the same time as stimulating the confident speakers? With a focus on vocabulary and chunks, as essential building blocks, we will discuss how you can develop both language and confidence with the younger learners. Kick-start Speaking will give ideas to differentiate your pupils’ speaking skills, whilst developing language in a fun and meaningful context.

Learning to speak in a second language can be daunting for a pupil, but with the right tools it can be fun and motivating.
As teachers, we know that no matter what age, our pupils learn best in a safe and respectful classroom environment, with set rules and routines. We must develop a classroom culture, where there is room to make mistakes and where speaking “fluency” does not necessarily mean “accuracy”.
Mål
You will:
- learn about classroom management and lesson structure in language teaching.
- gain knowledge about stimulating your pupils’ speaking skills, through renewable games, projects and stories.
- gain skills in how to integrate vocabulary and chunks during your entire English lesson.
