’Traditions and culture’ focuses on deepening language learning through the rich and diverse culture of English-speaking countries. Through articles, multimedia and music, we will explore traditions and culture through practical ideas that develop pupils’ English skills while strengthening their intercultural understanding.
Traditions help preserve a culture’s values, beliefs, and shared history by passing them from one generation to the next. They also strengthen language by keeping traditional expressions, stories, and ways of speaking alive within a community.
By the end of the course, you will have a folder of adaptable activities suited to pupils aged 11–17, ready to implement in your classroom.
You will learn how to…
– design engaging lessons that integrate culture and traditions into language learning objectives.
– use authentic cultural materials to develop pupils’ language skills.
– Foster cultural awareness while strengthening pupils’ confidence and communicative competence in English.
