Vocabulary is essential for learning English. How do we make sure that we have enough focus on working with vocabulary and chunks when the pupils reach 3rd class? How can we recycle language in a fun and meaningful way?
As teachers, we know that every lesson should start with a warm-up exercise or game, to bring the attention of the pupils into the classroom. But how often do you wish that in the middle of your lesson, you just had a short, spontaneous activity, that could reignite the pupils’ interest and fire them up for the rest of the lesson, using relevant topic-related vocabulary? Similarly, a calm game to reflect on the day’s learning, to end the lesson.
Trying out games to activate the language skills and the learning styles to reach as many children as possible, we will talk about the importance of vocabulary and ways to teach it.
- You will get knowledge about why vocabulary and chunks are important parts of language learning
- You will gain knowledge about stimulating your pupils’ vocabulary acquisition, through short, spontaneous games
- You will receive tools to integrate working with vocabulary during your entire English lesson
