How can we encourage our shy pupils to speak English, at the same time as stimulating the gamers?
With a focus on vocabulary and chunks, as essential building blocks of language acquisition, we will discuss how to develop both their language and confidence.
Speaking and communicating in a second language can be daunting for a pupil, but with the right tools it can be fun and motivating. But how can we keep focusing on vocabulary and chunks when the pupils reach 5th class and above? And how can we develop their language in a fun and meaningful way?
As teachers, we know that no matter what age, our pupils learn best in a safe and respectful classroom environment. We must develop a classroom culture, where there is space to make mistakes and where speaking ‘fluency’ does not necessarily mean ‘accuracy’.
Along with teaching discussions, ‘Stimulating Speaking’ will present diverse renewable games and projects, to promote the pupil confidence and language use in the classroom. During ‘Stimulating Speaking’ we will talk about the importance of communicating and different ways to teach it. The course will give you ideas to differentiate your pupils’ speaking skills, whilst recycling language in a fun and meaningful context.
- You will get knowledge about why vocabulary and chunks are important parts of language learning.
- You will gain knowledge about stimulating your pupils’ speaking skills, through short, spontaneous games.
- You will receive tools to integrate working with vocabulary during your entire English lesson.
